“LA LINTERNA,” PASTE UP

EAST BOSTON SOCIAL CENTER

“For the past three years, I’ve been curating public art projects with HarborArts; a local group dedicated to bringing public art and creative culture to East Boston.  Last July, we had the pleasure of partnering up with a letterpress shop from Cali Colombia called La Linterna. This is a group that produces artistic posters from various national and international artists through techniques like linocut and letterpress.

We collaborated with the East Boston Social Center as part of the “Beautify Main Streets” project to bring a creative workshop led by La Linterna and shared with students from the EBSC and youth from the community.”

“We learned about the history of posters and different styles of printing. We then created a temporary outdoor “paste-up” installation on the walls of the Social Center. This was a fun and creative way to share with our community and we were pleased with the results.

Many thanks to EBSC, La Linterna, Harbor Arts, Main Streets organization, and our lovely community in East Boston.”
